9 tips to cover ‘lockdown’ regrowthRare Earth
While we all head into uncertain times, it may be a while until you can visit us at Rare Earth. Whilst we are still open, we thought we would send you a few ideas on how to get through this while still looking fabulous.
Unfortunately, Rare Earth can not send you Aveda colour to put on yourselves at home and sadly we are unable to do home visits due to industry regulations, but we can get creative and think outside the box.
Before all the shop close, run out to pick up a few of these accessories
(1) HIDE YOUR HAIRLINE WITH A HEADBAND
Wonder why headbands have never gone out of style? Because everyone is using them to cover up their roots. These handy hair accessories are perfect for hiding your hairline, while still looking polished and chic.
(2) COVER-UP WITH MAKEUP
If you’re in a pinch, reach for an eyeshadow or face powder that matches your haircolour and dust a small amount around your hairline. The colour will help soften the discolouration, while also making the hairline look thicker. Just be sure to wash the makeup out thoroughly at the end of the day, as makeup can buildup on your scalp or come off on your pillow.
(3) MAKE DRY SHAMPOO YOUR BFF
Soften the look of your hairline by applying dry shampoo to your roots. This trick works wonders for blondes and those with lighter haircolours as it softens the line between the visible regrowth and the rest of your hair. Dry shampoo also works wonders as a mattifying agent that can help absorb oils.
(4) THROW ON A HAT
Just like headbands, hats are a quick and easy fix for hiding greys and discoloured roots. Hats are also great for protecting your hair colour from fading through our Summer, and keeping your head warm as we move into Winter.
(5) SLICK BACK YOUR STYLE
Blur the look of your roots by slicking back your hair. By creating a wet appearance, hair will look darker, which makes your regrowth less noticeable.
(6) ADD A BRAID
Braids are amazing at tricking the eye to see more dimension and texture in the hair. By adding a braid along your hairline you can disguise your roots and give the appearance of a more dimensional hair colour.
(7) CHANGE YOUR PART
Avoid straight partings and instead use a zigzag parting to hide the regrowth. A great way to add volume too, creating a zig zag part takes just a few minutes
(8) DISTRACT WITH YOUR HAIRSTYLE
Putting hair up in a high bun is a great way to distract from your regrowth and make the topknot the feature, everyone will be too busy admiring your handiwork to notice any colour change.
(9) WASH YOUR HAIR OFTEN
Unfortunately, the dirtier your hair is, the more visible your regrowth is going to be.Freshly washed hair hides regrowth better as there are not as many oils.
Have fun exploring new looks and stay safe and healthy…
